First edition. Alfons Heising (1903-1975) was a German communist who was persecuted and imprisoned several times after the Nazis took power. In 1934 he fled to Denmark, and he stayed there and in Sweden until he was extradited to Germany in 1941. This book, ”Alfons Heising. Stories 1928-48”, is by his wife Henny Heising. The book and its memoirs are written in the first person, but were created through a long process in which Henny Heising, throughout their relationship and marriage from 1935 until his death, collected his stories and tales in a kind of collective process with both of them as participants. After his death, she edited and wrote down the tales for publication.
