Catalogue for the sale of Danish Chamberlain and landowner Tønnes Christian Bruun-Neergaard’s (1776-1824) collection of drawings and watercolours (Lugt 8580).

It took place in Paris (Salle de l’hôtel de Bullion) on August 29-September 7, 1814. Bruun-Neergaard lived in Paris for many years and the collection consisted mainly of French gouaches, but also Danish artists were represented, such as C.W. Eckersberg, J.-F.-J. Saly, Heinrich Grosch and Elias Meyer.

Bruun-Neergaard was important as a patron of Eckersberg and contributed to his first stay abroad in 1810, followed him to Paris and introduced him to David’s studio. He also encouraged Eckersberg to paint views from the journey, possibly hoping to have them published.
