"Roms Farver er resultatet af en intensiv forskningsindsats udfort ved Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole. Normalt forbinder man det antikke og middelalderlige Roms facader med en gennemgående varm okkergul farveskala - spendende fra lys gul over orange til brun. Den danske restaureringsarkitekt Bente Langes underøsgelse viser imidlertid at Roms ’farve’ er af nyere dato. Gennem bygningsarkaeologiske studier, rejsebeskrivelser og arkivstudier og gennem den arkitektfaglige ’laesning’ af facadernes opbygning og arkitektur afslører forfatteren tidligere tiders overraskende farvemaessige rigdom og harmoni. Det barokke Rom havde klare, lysende facader med pastelfarver i nuancer som himlens. Forfatteren forer leseren igennem en fascinerende labyrint af teorier, iagttagelser og tekniske undersøgelser for at rekonstruere billedet af en usaedvanlig og speciel by, hvor farven ikke er resultatet af tilfaeldig patinering, men et faktum der kan generere en visuel helhed af byens rum.”

"Rome's Colors is the result of an intensive research effort carried out at the Academy of Fine Arts' School of Architecture. Normally one associates the facades of ancient and medieval Rome with a consistently warm ocher yellow color scale - ranging from light yellow through orange to brown. The Danish restoration architect Bente Lange's research shows, however, that Rome's 'colour' is of recent date. Through building archeology studies, travelogues and archival studies and through the architectural 'reading' of the structure and architecture of the facades, the author reveals the surprisingly colorful richness and harmony of earlier times. Baroque Rome had clear, luminous facades with pastel colors in hues like the sky. The author guides the reader through a fascinating labyrinth of theories, observations and technical studies to reconstruct the image of an unusual and special city, where the color is not the result of random patination, but a fact that can generate a visual whole of the city's space.”
